A Trifle Good Dessert 1 box raspberry Jell-O 2 cups very ripe bananas, sliced 1 box vanilla pudding 1⁄2 sponge or angel food cake, sliced into 1-inch square pieces 1⁄2 cup orange juice 1 pint fresh raspberries plus extra raspberries for garnish 2 cups whipped creamMake Jell-O according to package. Stir in bananas. Prepare pudding according to package using milk. Place cake cubes in a 9-by-13-inch baking pan. Drizzle orange juice over cake cubes, and toss. Layer raspberries, saving a few for garnish, and spoon gelatin mixture over all. Cover and chill for two hours in the refrigerator or for 30 minutes in the freezer. Fold whipped cream into the pudding, and spread over the cake mixture. Chill until serving. Serves 6. Notes: Trifles are often served in parfait glasses or in glass containers. For these, layer the gelatin cake with the berries, pudding and the whipped cream. Toppings can include more berries or toasted coconut flakes. If using ice cream instead of whipped cream, make sure the container is chilled, and build it immediately before serving.
