Pechanga hosts third annual microbrew festival
Temecula ---- The third annual festival microbrew at Pechanga Resort and Casino offers many weekend of beer, barbecue and music follows.
Over 1,000 guests are expected to attend the event, which will host over 30 vendors of beer. For the first time this year, there will be an international showcase of the brewer European imports from China and Brazil. Festival-goers will also be the first to try two new beers from Samuel Adams, one of which is named "People's Choice." Other breweries are represented Anheuser-Busch, Redhook Wit, Stella Artois, Hoegaarden, Blonde and Left Maui Brewing Co.
"Many of these beers are usually those who are not guests of purchase," said Dennis Khanh, vice president of food and drink. "But because the samples here, they will become new favorites."
Khanh also said that guests can enjoy tasting and learning about different varieties of beer, as American lager hops with citrus Skyscraper Brewing Co., the raspberry wheat from the Craft Brewing Co. Dark and Stormy Imperial Stout with notes of chocolate and coffee from Airdale Brewing Company, to name a few. The beers have a soft aroma to them, and colors vary from amber yellows and sienna reds to coffee browns.
As for the barbecue, Khanh promises a great combo with the beer. Pete's Firehouse BBQ will grill its popular "Redneck Tacos," which consist of pulled pork and coleslaw on a small corn tortilla, along with "Moink Balls" which are bacon-wrapped meatballs (moo-oink, get it?). Lucille's Smokehouse BBQ will be grilling ribs and chicken and serving coleslaw and banana pudding. Other restaurants serving samples from their menus are Sweet Baby Jane's BBQ, Kelsey's, Seafood Grotto, and Blazing Noodles.
A silent auction will be hosted by the local Habitat for Humanity, and anyone can place bids on a variety of items. All proceeds of the auction will go to low-income families for home ownership assistance. More than $10,000 was raised for charities at the previous two festivals.
